This story is a little different. According to Variety, director George Tillman Jr. (Soul Food, Men Of Honor, Notorious) is preparing to direct an untitled project about Peter Buckley, aka “the worst boxer of all time.”
The story will focus on the English fighter’s inability to quit despite his record of losing 256 of his 300 career fights hence being titled “the worse boxer of all time.”
Buckley, who retired in 2008, was able to garner a victory for his last fight. Alex Davidson is currently writing the script while Robert Teitel is producing through his and Tillman’s State Street Pictures banner.
Tillman also is currently casting The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete, a film with Jennifer Hudson attached to star. A description of the story states…”Left alone after his drug-addicted mother is arrested, a penniless 14-year-old teams with a 9-year-old runaway to survive a tumultuous summer in Brooklyn.” The script was written by Michael Starrbury and the project is gearing up to start filming this fall in Gotham.
In addition, he’s also set to direct the DreamWorks‘ romantic comedy I Saw You.
