If you grew up watching Disney's The Proud Family, then the reboot will likely have you planning a viewing party with your crew. The Proud Family has lived in our memories for more than 20 years and is set to release its new and improved version of the animated series on Feb. 23. The 29-year-old, rising R&B singer Joyce Wrice will be singing the latest theme song.

On Jan. 14, Disney announced that they selected the Los Angeles artist to sing the theme song for The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The series songwriter and composer Kurt Farquhar and the creative team wanted to make someone who grew up with the original show feel like that's still their song, but at the same time, wanted fans to feel like the song have been given a fresh sound. The R&B singer confirmed the news on Twitter with a brief message.

"I am so excited to share that I'll be singing the reimagined theme song for #TheProudFamilyLouderAndProuder. I am a huge fan of the original series and am honored to be a part of the #DisneyPlus Revival. I can't wait for you to hear it!!," she wrote.

The latest trailer alludes to our childhood memories with a fresh modern twist to the series. If the trailer didn't put you in your bag, then maybe the recreation of the proud family's theme song will do the trick. The animated show had one of the best theme songs featuring R&B group Destiny's Child and Solange flowing over the hit track.

The team fell in love with Wrice's aesthetic, making it easy for them to envision her as a character.

"We said, 'oh my gosh, she's Penny Proud,'" Farquhar said in the featurette. "If we were to imagine Penny Proud as a pop star, that's who she would be."

Following behind legendary artists, Wrice knows she has big shoes to fill but is happy to have the baton.

"I was a fan of [The Proud Family] growing up, and the theme song is just so iconic," Wrice said. "It's timeless; it is classic. Destiny's Child and Solange sang it, and I couldn't stop singing it, for me to take the baton and do it, it's amazing."

In Louder and Prouder, fans will see The Proud Family doing what they do best as we follow Penny Proud in her teen years and typical shenanigans with her family and friends. The original cast, including Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, and Paula Jai Parker, is back with the team. This season wouldn't be louder and prouder without guest voices such as Lizzo, Normani, Lil Nas X, and many more.
