DJ Khaled and John Legend paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle during their performance on Saturday Night Live.
The pair performed “Higher,” a track featuring Nip from Khaled’s latest album, Father of Asahd, on Saturday, reports HuffPost. DJ Khaled wore a black sweatshirt adorned with a portrait of Hussle. When it was time to play the song, an electronic outline of Nip’s face appeared behind Legend. At the end of the song, fellow performers J. Balvin, Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Jerimih, SZA, Big Sean and Meek Mill joined Khaled onstage as he dedicated the performance to Nip.
“Long live Nipsey Hussle. The Marathon continues,” the DJ declared.
The day before, DJ Khaled released the song’s music video, the last one Nipsey would ever film.
The “Wild Thoughts” rapper shared the video was filmed just days before Nip was gunned down in front of his clothing store, reports USA Today. Khaled also announced he would donate all proceeds from the song to Nip’s children.
A gift from my brother Nipsey that we want to share with the world. We miss you and we will forever keep your legacy going. The Marathon Continues. ????????

"The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a 'Higher' level was the essence of Nipsey’s soul," Khaled tweeted. "It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission, that I, my co-writers, producers, and label partners are donating 100% of all our proceeds from 'Higher' to Nipsey’s children."
John Legend mentioned the video on the day Hussle died.
RIP Nipsey. I just spent Thursday with him filming a video for a beautiful new song we created with Khaled. We filmed in Inglewood, close to where he grew up. He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community. Utterly stunned that he's gone so soon.
