A Full Frame Film Festival selection for 2011, A Good Man follows acclaimed director/choreographer Bill T. Jones (FELA! most recently; is currently working on a Broadway musical based on Super Fly, the movie) as he and his company develop what they deem their most ambitious work – an original dance-theater piece in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial.

The film follows them through two tumultuous years, capturing every raw moment of struggle and exhilaration, as Jones struggles to communicate his vision to his dancers and collaborators, as the team comes face to face with America’s unresolved contradictions about race, equality and the legacy of its 16th President.

Premiering on the heels of Jones’s Tony Award for FELA! and 2010 Kennedy Center Honor, A Good Man is a window into the creative process of an enduring, provocative artist.

The ITVS-funded film, co-produced by Kartemquin Films and Media Process Group, was directed by Gordon Quinn and Bob Hercules.

It’s also a 2011 PBS American Masters selection. And I just got word that it’ll make its PBS TV debut on November 11th, this year.
