Katherine Nero’s dramatic feature film "For The Cause" has been making the rounds on the film
festival circuit for the past two years, and has now been set, this month, to make its online
streaming premiere on kweliTV.

Inspired by the
Swahili word which means truth, kweliTV is an interactive, streaming TV
network dedicated to the stories, issues and culture of the global black
community.

Their plan
is to offer for viewers a wide and eclectic range of programming from indie
films, web shows, documentaries, and news programming “exclusively for the
entire African diaspora”.

"For the Cause" which
stars Starring Charlette Speigner, Shariba Rivers and Eugene Parker, follows Mirai Scott (Speigner), a civil rights attorney who is contacted by her father
(Parker), a former Black Panther that went underground 30 years prior to escape
a murder charge, and who urges her to take his case.

The plot
thickens since "Mirai is hesitant to defend a man she doesn’t know.
However, her passion for justice and curiosity about her father take over and
she commits herself to his defense, despite warnings from her boyfriend and her
mother (Rivers). Mirai’s attempt to win her father’s freedom uncovers painful
and dangerous secrets from her parents’ past."

In addition, "For the Cause" will also be screened
at The Diaspora Festival of Black and Independent Film at the University of North
Carolina in Chapel Hill. NC on Sept. 24.
