The constantly-busy (film, TV, web series) Dorian Missick and Tracie Thoms have joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ Annie, a reimagining of the Broadway musical, which stars Quvenzhané Wallis as the title character.
Missick and Thoms will play Annie’s “fake parents.”
Both actors join a cast that already includes Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Bobby Cannavale, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje and Rose Byrne.
The film is currently filming in New York City, under Will Gluck’s direction, based on a script he revised, originally written by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna.
Will & Jada Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, in partnership with Jay-Z (who’ll be working on the soundtrack) are producing.
The long-in-development remake of the Broadway musical will be released by Sony Pictures on December 19, 2014 (Sony moved the date up a week).
Missick recently wrapped shooting on the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced thriller, Beware the Night, in New York City, in which he appears alongside Eric Bana and Joel McHale.
Thoms can next be seen in the telepic Gothica, a contemporary tale that weaves together various iconic urban legends.
