Draymond Green was determined to see LeBron James surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, Sports Illustrated reports. Even if that means missing his own game to witness the moment.

On Green’s podcast, The Draymond Green show, he told listeners the lengths he’s willing to go to watch James take the title, the Bleacher Report reports.

“Probably in 50 more games or so, 50 or 70 games or so he’ll be first all-time, and I can’t wait to see that,” he explained in the episode.

“Steve Kerr, I’m throwing this out there right now—if LeBron James is passing the all-time scoring record and we have a game, I’m going to LeBron’s game and witness history. So that’s what we’re doing, Coach Kerr,” he said.

According to Sports Illustrated, James secured the second spot on the all-time scoring list last weekend. The new achievement put him just 1,402 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who broke the record back in 1984.

According to the Bleacher Report, James typically scores 30 points per game. If, on average, he were to score 25 points per game, that would have him passing Abdul-Jabbar during the 2022-2023 season.

“I will not allow myself to think about it,” James said of his future achievement, Sports Illustrated reports. “I’ve always just played the game the way I’ve been playing it over the years, and these things have just happened organically by just going out and playing the game the right way. Hope to accomplish that at some point in my career, but I won’t think about it too much.”
