Dwyane Wade has responded to his ex-wife’s court filing petitioning the courts to cease legally changing their daughter Zaya’s name, arguing that the three-time NBA champion has plans to profit off their child’s gender change.

Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, the star’s first wife and mother of his two oldest children, filed paperwork this week asking a judge to postpone their daughter Zaya’s sex change until she’s 18. In Funches-Wade plea to the judge, she claims the NBA star is exploiting their daughter for financial income.

Wade is currently in Africa celebrating his wife’s birthday but, set time aside to read his ex-wife down after her petition and allegations regarding the future of their 15-year-old daughter.

“Since this must be the new way of parenting, I guess I have to address these allegations here, which is a damn shame,” he wrote.

“While I’m on a life-changing trip in our motherland, Africa, I’ve received a social media post about me forcing our 15-year-old child to be someone she’s not and to do something against her will. These are serious and harmful allegations that have hurt our children,” he said.

“Siohvaughn tried a similar attempt over a decade ago (with equally damaging lies and confusing irreparable harm to her children) and 13 lawyers later, I was awarded sole custody of our two kids as an active NBA player!” he added.

“All I ever wanted was to have my parenting time uninterrupted, as I knew that it would be a very difficult time for our kids to navigate their new normal. So Instead of actually trying to co-parent over the years, she’s left her home to see more lawyers and has taken the time to talk to more lawyers since I filed for divorce, than she’s left her home to actually see or have truly spoken and LISTENED to Zaya over all these years,” he said.

Now no matter who you side with, the permanent changes Zaya wants at a young at can be dangerous and many young teens who have sex changes before the age of 18 regret the choice. Regardless the topic is sensitive and we give Zaya our support.
