Eddie Murphy talked a little bit about his Academy Awards hosting gig early next year during a press conference for his upcoming comedy thriller Tower Heist. The actor says, “I’m looking forward to doing it and I promise I’ll stay there all night, Oscars is a fun thing to do. I don’t feel the pressure. I get to introduce people and stand up straight. Maybe I’ll be in a couple silly sketches or something.”
According to the report by HitFlix, Murphy, who hasn’t hosted an awards program since the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards, says he hasn’t started working on any new material because “no ones got nominated yet.”
I’m eagerly anticipating next year’s show more so than I have in the past few years for several reasons, Murphy being one of them. The 84th Academy Awards will air Feb. 26, 2012 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
