1) Algee Smith and RJ Walker
One of RJ Walker’s early roles in Hollywood was as a transcriber for Dancing with the Stars. But now, he’s made it big on TV on FX’s Atlanta and BET’s Boomerang. Algee Smith is best known for Detroit and BET’s The New Edition Story. He’ll be seen next in HBO’s gritty teen drama, Euphoria, opposite Zendaya.
2) Nafessa Williams and Javicia Leslie
Javicia Leslie has starred in BET’s The Family Business and has a key starring role on CBS’ God Friended Me. One of her next projects is Always a Bridesmaid, written by Yvette Nicole Brown and starring Brown and Jordan Calloway. Nafessa Williams currently stars as DC Comics superheroine Anissa Pierce / Thunder on CW’s Black Lightning. Her next projects include Black and Blue, which also stars Tyrese Gibson and Naomie Harris.
3) Kelly Jenrette and Brittany Inge
Brittany Inge currently stars in BET’s Boomerang and has been featured in FX’s Atlanta, The Hate U Give and OWN’s Love Is_. She will be seen next in Tyson’s Run, starring Major Dodson and Barkhad Abdi. Kelly Jenrette has starred in Jinn, Netflix’s Fuller House, FOX’s Pitch and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. She has several projects coming up, including Limetown, a series starring Jessica Biel, Stanley Tucci, and Sherri Saum.
4) Simone Missick and Nicole Beharie
Missick, who starred for two seasons in Netflix’s Marvel drama, Luke Cage, will be seen next leading the CBS drama, All Rise. Beharie, most known for her role in Sleepy Hollow, appears on a highly-anticipated episode of Black Mirror this season and will star in the long-gestating Jacob’s Ladder remake with Michael Ealy and Jesse Williams.
5) Thandie Newton and Zoe Saldana
Thandie Newton currently stars in HBO’s Westworld, which will debut its third season in 2020. Zoe Saldana has starred in blockbuster franchises including Star Trek and the Guardians of the Galaxy series as well as the final two films in Marvel’s Phase 3, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter of which is currently in theaters.
6) Yahya Abdul Mateen II and Colman Domingo
Colman Domingo was recently on the big screen in If Beale Street Could Talk and currently stars in AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. Yahya Abdul Mateen II was seen in the films Aquaman and Us, and will star with Regina King in HBO’s Watchmen series adaptation.
7) Jennifer Hudson and Angell Conwell
Angell Conwell is best known for her work on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. She’ll be seen next in Hannibal the Great, starring Gary Anthony Sturgis and Robert Gossett. After appearing on American Idol, Jennifer Hudson became a superstar after winning an Oscar for Dreamgirls. She has also starred in films such as The Secret Life of Bees. She will be seen next in the movie adaptation of Cats and as the Queen of Soul in the Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect.
8) Khandi Alexander and Tasha Smith
Khandi Alexander is best known for her work on HBO’s Treme and ABC’s Scandal. She has also been in HBO’s adaptation of Fahrenheit 451. Tasha Smith is best known for Why Did I Get Married and the TV spinoff, TBS and OWN’s For Better or Worse. Alongside appearing in many television shows like Empire, she’s also directing many episodes of television, becoming an in-demand director. She also directed the TV movie, When Love Kills.
9) Michael Ealy and John Clarence Stewart
Michael Ealy is currently starring in The Intruder opposite Meagan Good and Dennis Quaid. He has also starred on BET’s Being Mary Jane and has finished work on the film remake of Jacob’s Ladder, starring Jesse Williams and Nicole Beharie. Ealy’s other upcoming projects include ABC’s upcoming series Stumptown, starring Cobie Smulders. John Clarence Stewart has starred on Netflix’s Luke Cage and is currently filming the TV series What/If, also coming to Netflix. He has been announced to star in the NBC TV series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, starring Skylar Astin, Jane Levy and Alex Newell.
10) Logan Browning and Tati Gabrielle
Tati Gabrielle currently stars on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and also stars on CW’s The 100. Her voice can be heard in The Emoji Movie. Logan Browning stars in Netflix’s latest horror film, The Perfection and also stars in Netflix’s Dear White People.
11) Indya Moore and Yara Shahidi
Indya Moore has garnered critical acclaim for her role in FX’s groundbreaking series, Pose, while Yara Shahidi, the star of black-ish and grown-ish, recently led the film The Sun is Also a Star.
12) Niles Fitch and John Boyega
Fitch, who stars in This Is Us, will play a prince in the Disney+ film, The Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. Boyega’s busy schedule includes the upcoming Star Wars film and a sci-fi romance with Letitia Wright.
HONORABLE MENTION: Zendaya and Storm Reid
These two get an honorable mention because they will play sisters in the upcoming HBO drama, Euphoria. Multi-hyphenate Zendaya is most known for her Disney Channel days, and can be seen this summer in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Reid first gained mainstream fame in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time, and can also be seen in her upcoming Netflix series, When They See Us.
