13 Reasons Why has been renewed for Season 3 at Netflix.
The streaming giant announced the news in a video on Thursday.
The core cast is expected to return, sans Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford).
13 Reasons Why is adapted from the best-selling books by Jay Asher. The first season followed teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returned home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside, he discovered cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), his classmate and crush, who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are 13 reasons why she decided to end her life.
Several black actors star in the series: Alisha Boe, one of the series’ leads, and Derek Luke, who is also a series regular. Ajiona Alexus and Steven Silver reprise their roles as major recurring players, and RJ Brown also joined in Season 2 as a recurring cast member.
The series is produced for Netflix by Paramount Television, and Selena Gomez is among the executive producers.
