Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson’s 2 Dope Queens will be back at HBO in 2019 for the second series of four hour-long specials. HBO programming president Casey Bloys announced the news.

The first series of four specials debuted last February and were directed by Tig Notaro. The specials featured guests such as Uzo Aduba, Tituss Burgess, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Stewart. The show was praised by critics, with IndieWire calling it “the face of comedy’s future,” and Decider saying Williams and Robinson “are undoubtedly two of the most interesting, compelling voices in the industry at the moment, and giving them an on-camera platform is the best move HBO could have made.” The Los Angeles Times said, “The hosts are smart, sweet and centered enough that they can handle the lowest topics in a way that feels innocent and refreshing.”

The series is based on the comedy podcast of the same name, which began in 2016 on WNYC. Much like in the series, the podcast features Williams and Robinson (and their friends and favorite comedians) discussing topics including life in New York, sex and romance, race, hair journeys and more.

Williams will be seen next in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks. Robinson will star in next year’s What Men Want.
