The 2020 Emmy nominations were announced Tuesday morning by Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany.
HBO’s Watchmen scored the most nominations overall with 26. Zendaya broke through in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series race for her work in HBO’s Euphoria. For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Billy Porter is nominated for Pose and Sterling K. Brown is nominated for This is Us. Issa Rae (Insecure) and Tracee Ellis Ross (black-ish) are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Anthony Anderson (black-ish) and Don Cheadle (Black Monday) are nominated. Regina King (Watchmen), Octavia Spencer (Self Made) and Kerry Washington (Little Fires Everywhere) are nominated Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie and Jeremy Pope is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for Hollywood.
In the supporting categories, Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Thandie Newton (Westworld) and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale) nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Outstanding Support Actor in a Comedy Series nominees include
Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Mahershala Ali (Ramy), William Jackson Harper (The Good Place) and in his second acting nomination for this awards’ Sterling K. Brown The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. For Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Yvonne Orji is nominated for Insecure. A trio of Watchmen actors are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Louis Gossett Jr. and Jovan Adepo. And for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, Uzo Aduba gets a nomination for Mrs. America.
In the guest categories, Giancarlo Esposito picks up a second nomination for The Mandalorian in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Ron Cephas Jones is also nominated in the category for This is Us. Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series includes nominations for Angela Bassett (A Black Lady Sketch Show) Maya Rudolph (two nominations for Saturday Night Live and The Good Place) and Wanda Sykes (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Eddie Murphy is nominated for Outstanding Guest Ator in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live. And the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series nominees include Cicely Tyson (How to Get Away With Murder), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) and Phylicia Rashad (This Is Us).
In overall series, A Black Lady Sketch Show is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Insecure is nominated for Best Comedy Series, and Little Fires Everywhere, Mrs. America and Watchmen are nominated for Outstanding Limited Series
