The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the nominees for their 2021 awards on Thursday. TCA nominees compete for accolades across different categories honoring outstanding achievements in news and information, youth, reality, drama, comedy, miniseries, and sketch/variety shows. The winners will be announced later this summer and there will not be an in-person ceremony again due to the pandemic. It will return in person next year.

Ted Lasso leads all nominees with five, while Mare of Easttown, Hacks, I May Destroy You and WandaVision all have four. Per Shadow and Act’s stated interest, notable nominees include Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Thuso Mbedu (The Underground Railroad), Mj Rodriguez (Pose) and Omar Sy (Lupin) are up for Individual Achievement in Drama. Renee Elise Goldsberry (Girls5Eva) is nominated for Individual Achievement in Comedy.

Series-based achievements see nominations for I May Destroy You, Pose, Girls5Eva, The Underground Railroad, P-Valley, Lovecraft Country, Legendary, Bridgerton and more. I May Destroy You, The Underground Railroad and Bridgerton are all nominated for the prestigious Program of the Year.

“This was an incredible year for fresh, inclusive content and new creators, and our nominations are a reflection of that,” said Melanie McFarland, TCA President and TV Critic for Salon. “The TCA membership selected from a wealth of original offerings that broke fresh ground and presented exciting, thought-provoking experiences that redefined the television landscape. Although we will not be able to honor these landmark achievements in-person, we look forward to celebrating 37 years of the TCA Awards and sharing our top picks when the winners are unveiled.”
