The latest “Zoom Where It Happens” event brings the stories of 227 back to the forefront. The event will take place Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

Gina Prince-Bythewood promoted the event on her Twitter account.

The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel director Christine Swanson will direct the zoom reading of 227. The event will be hosted by 227 alum Jackée Harry, who became the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress as Sandra.

The cast will include LaTanya Richardson Jackson as Mary, Loretta Devine as Rose, Wanda Sykes as Pearl, Keke Palmer as Sandra, and Blair Underwood as Lester and other male roles.

Some might see the latest Zoom Where It Happens announcement as the event’s team hearing the concerns from their audience about the focus on recreating white shows with Black casts. The first two zoom readings were all-Black casts of The Golden Girls and Friends. This time, the focus on Black shows is finally front and center.

The zoom event will also help viewers with increasing their political power through a sign-up process to receive messages on voting and other ways to using your voice during the political season. The event is also in collaboration with Zoom and the country’s largest nonprofit media organization for African Americans, PushBlack.

Viewers can register at Zoom Where It Happens’ page.
