The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Erin Kellyman is the latest addition to the ever-growing cast of 28 Years Later, the first installment in the new trilogy of post-apocalyptic horror films from Danny Boyle and Alex Garland that originated with the film 28 Days Later. Deadline first reported Kellyman’s casting.
Boyle will direct the first installment of 28 Years Later, which is due out in theaters June 20, 2025, from a script by Garland. Nia DaCosta will direct the second installment in the new trilogy.
Fresh off his Best Actor Oscar win for Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Jim, who was introduced in 28 Days Later as “a bicycle courier who wakes from a coma to discover the world has been overrun with zombies following the outbreak of a virus.” Released in 2002, 28 Days Later also starred Naomie Harris, and grossed $84.6 million at the international box office. A sequel, 28 Weeks Later, was released in 2007.
Aside from Murphy, Kellyman joins a cast that includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell. Boyle and Garland are also producing the first installment of 28 Years Later alongside Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice and Bernie Bellew. Murphy will also executive produce.
