Saturday’s world premiere of the Lifetime Original Movie "Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart" drew 3.6 million Total Viewers, according to Nielsen Fast Cable Ratings, becoming cable’s number one original movie with Adults 25-54, Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 in a year since the January 2015 premiere of the Lifetime Original Movie "Whitney," as well as the best among ad-supported cable with Adults 18-49 since "Whitney."
The film averaged 1.8 million Adults 25-54, 1.7 million Adults 18-49, 1.4 million Women 25-54 and 1.3 million Women 18-49 in its 8:00pm time period.
Immediately following the movie at 10:00pm, the special "Beyond the Headlines: Toni Braxton," featuring interviews with Toni and her family, L.A. Reid, Babyface, record producer David Foster and songwriter Diane Warren about Braxton’s childhood, meteoric rise to fame, financial and health struggles and ultimate triumph over adversity, brought in 2.8 million Total Viewers, 1.4 million Adults 25-54, 1.3 million Adults 18-49, 1.1 million Women 25-54 and 1.0 million Women 18-49 viewers.
On Twitter, "Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart" was the most tweeted about program on television Saturday, with an 18% share of all Twitter TV activity, and has become the most Tweeted movie for the television season to date, while "Beyond the Headlines: Toni Braxton" was the evening’s second most-tweeted about non-sports program in primetime, according to Nielsen.
"Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart" stars newcomer Lex Scott Davis ("The Exes") in a telepic that follows the singer’s journey from her discovery by mega producers L.A. Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, to her battle with Lupus. The movie also delves into how she made it through her public divorce all while navigating her son’s autism and family struggles.
Toni Braxton executive produced the two-hour film, which is based on her popular memoir "Unbreak My Heart."
Directed by Vondie Curtis Hall (he also directed the previous Lifetime Original Movie, "Abducted: The Carlina White Story") the script was penned by Susan McMartin ("Two and a Half Men").
"Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart" is produced by Link Entertainment. Braxton, Craig Baumgarten, Erik Kritzer and Marcus Grant serve as executive producers. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds produces.
