If there’s anything we’ve learned by observing the careers of Cynthia Erivo, Daveed Diggs and Brandon Victor Dixon, it’s that Broadway can serve as an excellent springboard for more opportunities in film in television. While Erivo is set to headline the highly-anticipated Steve McQueen heist thriller Widows, Daveed Diggs has drawn universal acclaim for his writing and performance in the dramedy, Blindspotting.

1. Condola Rashad

As the daughter of Phylicia Rashad, Condola Rashad has carved out a nice niche for herself within the Broadway arena. The Tony Award-winning actress has accrued her fourth nomination in the Best Actress In A Play category for her performance in Saint Joan.

2. Brian Tyree Henry

As Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles on the hit FX show Atlanta, Brian Tyree Henry has earned a considerable amount of acclaim, including an Emmy nomination. However, Henry has also wowed audiences on Broadway with his performances in The Book Of Mormon and Lobby Hero, which garnered him a 2018 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor In A Play.

3. Anika Noni Rose

Best known for her performances on the BET drama The Quad, the hit musical Dreamgirls, and the animated pic The Princess and the Frog, Anika Noni Rose has drawn acclaim for her performance in the Off-Broadway adaptation of Carmen Jones.

4, Joshua Henry

Hamilton alum has drawn rave reviews for his performance in Carousel, for which he earned a Tony Award for Best Actor In A Musical.

5.  Audra McDonald

To say that Audra McDonald has been killing it on Broadway is sort of an understatement. The six-time Tony award winning actress’ omnipresence on the Broadway stage is punctuated by  her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, which wowed audiences in 2017
