The new A Different World series at Netflix has officially commenced production, and with cameras now filming, a few cast announcements have been revealed as well.

OG stars Jenfier Lewis and Charnele Brown have been added to the cast who will be returning for the Netflix sequel series. They join Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Daryl M. Bell and Cree Summer, who will also be appearing.

Other newly announced guest stars for the series

New guest stars also announced on Thursday include Vincent Jamal Hooper as Ellington, Elijah J. Roberts as Jalen, Renee Harrison as Candace, Famecia Ward as Nellie Gaines, and Dasan Onyx Frazier as Xavier.

The join the cast, which is led by Maleah Joi Moon as Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Whitley and Dwayne. She heads to Hillman as a freshman and, according to the show’s description,” finds the shadow of her parents difficult to escape.” She starts creating her own legacy while having fun at Hillman with a new class of characters.

Also starring are Chibuikem Uche, Cornell Young, Jordan Aaron Hall, Alijah Kai and Kennedi Reese.

Felicia Pride is the showrunner, executive producer and writer. Debbie Allen, who directed 83 episodes of the original series, returns as a director and executive producer. She is directing three episodes, including the first one of the season.

Original series writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina-Prince Bythewood are executive producing, as are Mandy Summers and Tom Werner. The first season will have 10 half-hour episodes, and the format is single-camera.
