The Met Gala is held every year on the first Monday of May. So fans can always expect a fair share of viral moments — whether it be showstopping outfits, memorable moments or funny interactions on the red carpet. This year proved to be no different, from Teyana Taylor sneaking in Chick-fil-A inside the museum, Doja Cat and Lil Nas X meowing at reporters, or Diddy starting to sweat as he was asked personal questions.

The first occurrence to go viral happened before the red carpet even opened at all. Hours before his appearance at the Met, A$AP Rocky made a memorable entrance at the Carlyle Hotel.

The rapper was caught in a crowd of fans stuck behind a barricade around the hotel and jumped over to make his way through. In the process, he pushed a fan, knocking her glasses off.

Maddy, 21, shared a selfie on Twitter looking disheveled, with crooked glasses.

“ASAP Rocky just literally jumped over me,” she wrote.

The rapper apologized the following morning.

“LOL MY FAULT $WEETHEART,” he tweeted before following Maddy on the social media platform.

The incident quickly went viral, and several news outlets reported what happened. Maddy expressed her disbelief at the situation going viral. She even included it in her Twitter bio.

“asap jump over me at the met gala,” she wrote.

She found humor in the situation, saying she would print A$AP Rocky’s apology on a T-shirt. Maddy also called on social media users to stop asking if she would sue the rapper.

“My life is literally a joke,” she tweeted.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala after the red carpet officially closed. The rapper paid homage to late designer Karl Lagerfeld’s love of Scotland by sporting a kilt over his jeans, paired with black sunglasses. Rihanna wowed in a white Valentino gown and maxi train adorned with roses.
