Actor and wrestler Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who was perhaps best known for playing Debo in Friday, has died at the age of 62.
His manager, Cindy Cowan confirmed to CNN that he was found dead in his home after experiencing coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms.
Cowan said it “got really bad, really quick,” adding that he couldn’t breathe and felt very weak. “It literally went so fast,” she added.
Outside of Friday, he also had roles in a multitude of films, including The Fifth Element, No Holds Barred, Jackie Brown, Zootopia and more.
Cowan explained that he was set to go begin work on another film last week, but could not due so because he was sick. He also could not appear on a panel this week for a television festival. “Tiny doesn’t miss movies; he took it very seriously,” said Cowan.
Family members began calling to check on him Wednesday but did not hear back. A friend called police when they went by and he didn’t come to thhe door.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s said in a statement, “Mr. Lister’s death appears to be of natural causes but will ultimately be determined by the Office of Medical Examiner-Coroner.”
Our thoughts are with all of Lister’s loved ones.
