Marcc Rose was originally set to play Tupac Shakur in what would’ve been director John Singleton’s biopic (it’s now Benny Boom’s biopic, with Demetrius Shipp Jr. playing Tupac in a film titled “All Eyez on Me” which will be out this summer). Rose did play Tupac in 2015’s “Straight Outta Compton,” and will do so again in USA Network’s scripted true crime potential anthology series “Unsolved” which will be based on the murder investigations of Tupac and Biggie Smalls.

Rose, along with newcomer Wavyy Jonez (who will play Biggie after a nationwide casting call) have both joined the cast of the pilot, which also includes Bokeem Woodbine, Josh Duhamel and Jimmi Simpson – the latter 3 playing playing the detectives who were integral in the cases surrounding the highly-publicized murders.

The series is based on the experiences of former LAPD Detective Greg Kading, who led multiple law-enforcement task forces investigating the murders.

“The People. v. O.J. Simpson’s” Anthony Hemingway is set to direct the pilot, and will serve as an executive producer, alongside Mark Taylor and Kyle Long, who is penning the script.

It’s one of 2 projects in the works (that we are aware of) on the Tupac/Biggie murders; the other is the feature film “LAbryinth” which will also tackle the 1990s investigation into the unsolved murders, unfolding through the eyes of the Los Angeles detective – Russell Poole – who was in charge of the inquiry; Johnny Depp is attached to star.
