Simone Missick and Renée Elise Goldsberry are taking charge in the second season of Altered Carbon as Trepp and Quellcrist Falconer, respectively. Shadow And Act’s Trey Mangum sat down with the women for Shadow And Act to learn more about how they got into their take-no-prisoners roles in sci-fi.

“I think we always go back to Sigourney Weaver in Alien,” said Goldsberry.“…I just love how beautiful she was without trying at all to be anything but a survivor.”

“With Trepp, I had never seen a woman like this on screen and so there weren’t female characters that I had to draw from. It was always male characters,” said Missick, who also referenced female bounty hunters, friends and family who are in law enforcement, and Charlize Theron as points of inspiration.
