Andra Day made history when she became only the second Black actress after Whoopi Goldberg to win the Best Drama Actress Golden Globe for her acclaimed portrayal of Billie Holliday in The United States Vs. Billie Holiday.

In an interview with Scott Evans for Access Hollywood, Day received a special surprise from fellow nominee Regina King, who was only the second Black woman to be nominated for Best Director her feature film directorial debut came with the drama One Night in Miami.

After learning Day was in the same hotel as her, King surprised a jubilant Day, who ran over and hugged king. King went on to further praise the first-time actress.

“Oh my God! Are you kidding me? When I found out this woman was in this hotel… she is simply beautiful,” King said when asked by Evans how proud she is of Day.
