The college admissions scandal is having side effects for Felicity Huffman’s Netflix projects. Huffman pleaded guilty earlier this week after being accused of paying $15,000 to increase her daughter’s SAT score.
Otherhood, the upcoming comedy film that Huffman, Angela Bassett and Patricia Arquette star in, no longer has its April 26 release date. Shadow And Act reached out to Netflix who has no comment.
The Netflix original film, directed by Cindy Chupack, was adapted from the novel Whatever Makes You Happy by William Sutcliffe. The film is a romantic comedy that chronicles the lives of three mothers who abandon their suburban lives and head to New York City, where they hope to reconnect with their estranged sons. Sinqua Walls portrays Bassett’s son.
Another project Huffman stars in is retaining its release date and has not been moved. Huffman is one of the principal cast members of When They See Us, the Netflix limited series from Ava DuVernay on the Central Park Five case.
The series, which also stars Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, Jharrel Jerome, and Kylie Bunbury, will still debut as scheduled on May 31. Huffman portrays Linda Fairstein, who was the chief of the Sex Crimes Unit of the district attorney’s office in Manhattan.
