British actress Antonia Thomas has booked the female lead in the ABC drama pilot “The Good Doctor,” from Sony TV, an import of Park Jae-bum’s South Korean drama about a young surgeon with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital.
Currently in development for the upcoming 2017-2018 season, ABC has ordered a pilot for the project, which is being adapted by David Shore, who will also executive produce with Daniel Dae Kim, Sebastian Lee & David Kim.
Antonia Thomas has signed up to play Claire Browne, who is described as a strong-willed, caring and talented doctor who forms a special connection with the male lead (who has yet to be cast), while wrestling with her own demons.
Should ABC eventually order the pilot to series, it’ll mark Thomas’ first series regular/starring role on an American television series. She is likely best known to Stateside audiences for starring as Alisha Daniels in the British comedy-drama series “Misfits.”
Thomas is repped by Gersh, Principal LA and Curtis Brown in the UK.
