I thought this *contest* was long dead.

You’ll recall the very public gentrification debate that Spike Lee found himself at the center of, earlier this year, when he faced push-back from other Brooklynites in the film industry, like Anthony Mackie and Michael Rapaport.

I must have missed the moment when things got this personal. It’s been about 5 months since the first alarm went off, but, obviously, punches are still being thrown, as the debate seemingly moves beyond the original gentrification topic, and into filmmaking prowess, celebrity crowdfunding campaigns, with some name-calling (Rapaport calls Spike a "shit stain" for example) to pepper things up even further. 

I should mention that Rapaport did co-star in Spike’s "Bamboozled" 14 years ago – I believe it’s the only time that the two worked together. 

Or maybe it’s all just part of Spike’s pre-release marketing campaign for his upcoming "Da Sweet Blood of Jesus."

By the way, last I checked, gentrification is still alive and well.
