Apple has unveiled the key details about its streaming service, Apple TV+.
It has been announced that the subscription service will kick off on November 1 and cost $4.99 monthly for a subscription. This puts it below almost every other major player, including Netflix, Hulu and the upcoming Disney+. Right now, in order to drive signups, Apple is giving anyone who buys an Apple device a year of Apple TV+ for free.
It will launch with shows including The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, See starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard and Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld.
The series Truth Be Told (fka Are You Sleeping) starring Octavia Spencer and the film Hala, which was a selection at Sundance and TIFF and is executive produced by Jada Pinkett Smith are expected to debut after the launch. Down the pipeline content stemming from Oprah’s partnership with Apple and the series Swagger, an AAU basketball drama based on Kevin Durant’s childhood will be available on the streaming service.
