Marvel’s The Defenders may be gearing up for a comeback.

Just weeks after Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again debuted on Disney+, newly surfaced set photos from the show’s third season, which is currently filming in New York City, hint that the superhero team could reunite in the near future. Here’s what to know about the photos—and what they might mean for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

‘The Defenders’ stars spotted on ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ set in New York City

According to Deadline, Luke Cage star Mike Colter and Iron Fist alum Finn Jones were spotted on Friday on the set of Daredevil: Born Again outside a Brooklyn courthouse. Leaked photos also show Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter on set, suggesting a The Defenders reunion may be imminent. Ritter is also set to appear in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Polygon reported.

If confirmed, the Season 3 reunion would mark the first time the original superhero team—including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil—has appeared on screen together since Marvel’s 2010s Netflix era.

Each ‘Defenders’ hero headlined their own Netflix series in the 2010s

Throughout the 2010s, Netflix developed a slate of series centered on each member of The Defenders. Mike Colter starred in Luke Cage from 2016 to 2018, playing an ex-con with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who uses his powers to protect his community.

Krysten Ritter led Jessica Jones, which ran from 2015 to 2019 and followed the former superhero as she rebuilt her life as a private investigator in New York City. Finn Jones headlined Iron Fist, portraying martial artist Danny Rand, who returns to New York after years away with the powers of the Iron Fist.

Charlie Cox starred in Daredevil from 2015 to 2018 as Matt Murdock, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante—a role he reprises in Daredevil: Born Again, which continues the original series.

Colter, Ritter, Jones and Cox later united in Netflix’s 2017 miniseries The Defenders, an Avengers-style crossover that saw the heroes join forces to take on The Hand. The project also signaled the beginning of the end of Netflix’s partnership with Marvel, as Disney shifted its focus to its own streaming platform, Disney+.

New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+.
