Fans of black horror will surely remember Tales from the Hood, the Spike-Lee produced horror anthology film that was produced by Rusty Cundieff. In an age where filmmakers, black filmmakers, in particular, are using the horror genre as a conduit to discuss racial issues, it would be fitting to see a sequel soon, and according to Birth. Movies. Death, there is indeed a sequel to Tales from the Hood in the works.
Writer/director Rusty Cundieff, who is helming the sequel, has been attempting to get a follow-up to the horror anthology off the ground for years, with the film being greenlit in January. Whether Spike Lee will be producing the film is up in the air. But by the looks of Cundieff’s Twitter posts, it looks like actor Keith David, best known for his role in the horror film The Thing, will play a prominent role in the movie. In addition to that, Christopher Young, who was a composer on the horror cult classic Hellraiser and the original Tales from the Hood movie, will be returning to compose the opening score for the sequel.
