Black women are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the country, with their businesses generating more than $50 billion in revenue. In her new documentary, She Did That, filmmaker Renae Bluitt highlights these entrepreneurs and seeks to inspire even more by sharing the failures and successes of some of the top Black businesswomen in the game.
She Did That, which premiered at this year’s Essence Festival and was recently featured at the Urbanworld Film Festival, features narratives from Carol’s Daughter founder Lisa Price, My Fab Finance’s Tonya Rapley, The Lip Bar’s Melissa Butler and Awesomely Luvvie’s Luvvie Ajayi. These women’s testimonies remind audiences “that Black women are indeed bosses in business, embarking on their own ventures at six times the national average,” Bluitt says on the official She Did That site.
She Did That has screened across the country; future screenings will be announced soon via the film’s website.
