Supernatural thriller Don’t Let Go, starring David Oyelowo and Storm Reid, will come to theaters August 30 from Blumhouse Tilt, Universal’s OTL Releasing and Briarcliff Entertainment. The film initially premiered at this year’s Sundance Festival under the title Relive.

Don’t Let Go is directed by Jacob Aaron Estes, who is also the writer of the screenplay. Estes also has a story by credit with Drew Daywalt. Oyelowo is one of the film’s producers along with Jason Blum and Bobby Cohen. The film’s executive producers include  Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, Eric B. Fleischman, Jay Martin and Matt Kaplan.

The film focuses on a detective who receives an unimaginable call. According to the official description:

“In Don’t Let Go, Detective Jack Radcliff (Oyelowo) gets a shocking phone call from his recently-murdered niece Ashley (Reid). Working together across time, they race to solve her murder before it can happen.”

The film also stars Mykelti Williamson, Brian Tyree Henry, Shinelle Azoroh, Byron Mann, April Grace and Alfred Molina.

“We have been so passionate about Don’t Let Go and the work that Jacob Estes, David Oyelowo and the incredible cast have guided on-screen, and through Blumhouse Tilt we are able to tailor our marketing strategy to fit a picture precisely,” said Blum, according to the release. “Tom Ortenberg and his team at Briarcliff Entertainment are as committed as we are to targeting this marketing campaign to focus on genre and supernatural fans, who we know are going to love this film as much as we do.”

“I’m very grateful to Jason Blum and his focused, committed team at Blumhouse, and to the passion of Tom Ortenberg, not to mention the efforts of our team of beautiful actors from Storm Reid to Mykelti Williamson to David Oyelowo and all the creatives who worked on this movie,” added Estes.”The sweat, blood, belief and time that’s been poured into Don’t Let Go has been a blessing and I am very happy to have the opportunity to show it in a theater near you,“ said Jacob Estes.

Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg also praised Don’t Let Go, calling it “a gripping supernatural thriller” that Briarcliff is happy to release with Universal and Blumhouse. “Jacob Estes has taken his mind-bender of a script and directed it with a harrowing, edge-of-your-seat excitement,” he said.

Shadow And Act reviewed Don’t Let Go under its original title when it debuted at Sundance this year. Trey Mangum wrote that “despite the film’s overabundance of moving pieces, Don’t Let Go still contains the formula for what Blumhouse excels at the best, so there’s a good chance that the film could be a box office surprise out of Sundance.”
