Starz has officially given the greenlight to an 8-episode BMF documentary series from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, following the success of the original series of the same name. 

“The Docu-Series will offer an inside look at different perspectives from all of those involved, BMF…. Blowing Money Fast,” Jackson said in a statement.

The docuseries will be executive produced by Jackson and Shan Nicholson, who will also serve as the series showrunner. Nicholson will also direct the series alongside Chris Frierson.

“The success of BMF demonstrates a continued rise in fan demand and interest in the story of the Flenory Brothers,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at Starz. “We’re excited to dive deeper into the world of Black Mafia Family in this new project with Curtis, Shan and the teams at G-Unit and Jigsaw.”

The scripted BMF series has already been renewed for a second season at Starz.

The synopsis for BMF is as follows: BMF is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.
