Hot off the presses from a Marvel release…

Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther.”

Bassett, who currently stars in “American Horror Story,” will play Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, aka Black Panther, who is to be played by Chadwick Boseman.




Directed by Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed”), “Black Panther” stars Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, who will play Erik Killmonger; Lupita Nyong’o taking the role of Nakia; Danai Gurira as Okoye; Winston Duke as M’Baku; Forest Whitaker plays Zuri; Florence Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje; and Daniel Kaluuya will play W’Kabi, a T’Challa confidant.

Filming begins in early 2017.

The film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.
