The Hollywood Reporter states, “Sources tell THR that in success, Briarpatch would have gone on to score a second season. The Chris McCumber-led basic cable network, however, did not ask to hear a pitch for a possible second offering of the series.”
Edi Gathegi, Brian Geraghty and Kim Dickens also starred. The description reads: Based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name, Dawson portrays Allegra “Pick” Dill, “a tenacious and highly-skilled investigator working in Washington, D.C. for a young, ambitious senator. When her ten-years-younger sister, a homicide detective, is killed by a car bomb, Allegra returns to her corrupt Texas hometown. What begins as a search for the murderer becomes a fraught and dangerous excavation of the past Allegra has long sought to bury.
