Bruiser, starring Trevante Rhodes, Shamier Anderson and Till‘s Jalyn Hall, has a Hulu premiere date.

It is the first narrative feature film from Onyx Collective, Disney’s content brand featuring creatives of color and underrepresented voices. The film, which first premiered this year at the Toronto International Film Festival, serves as director Miles Warren’s debut.

In the first-look image, Hall and Rhodes are side by side as Darious (Hall), a teen who is learning about himself as he grows into an adult, and Porter (Rhodes), a man who lives life as a rolling stone. The relationship between the two gets rocky once a secret is revealed. According to the official description:

In director Miles Warren’s searing feature debut about fathers, families and the effects of toxic masculinity, 14-year-old Darious (Jalyn Hall) explores the boundaries of his manhood through tumultuous interactions with Malcolm (Shamier Anderson), his strict but loving father, and Porter (Trevante Rhodes), a charismatic drifter. When Darious learns Porter’s true identity, he is thrust into a conflict between the two men that may rip his family apart and threaten his safety.

The film will premiere on Hulu exclusively in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories Feb. 24.

Along with Rhodes and Hall, Bruiser also stars Shinelle Azoroh with Rhodes also serving as one of the film’s producers with Aaron Ryder, Jewerl Ross, Scott Frank and Scott Lumpkin. Ryder Picture Company, Lyrical Media, Silent R Management and Toula67 Entertainment produce.

Bruiser‘s feature-length version comes after the story wowed audiences at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival as a short film.
