It was announced Thursday that Byron Allen and his Entertainment Studios have reached a settlement in the racial bias case against Comcast.

For those unfamiliar, in 2019, Allen filed a lawsuit against Comcast in 2015, arguing that Comcast was refusing to broadcast channels under his brand due to his race. Allen’s case against Comcast went all the way to the Supreme Court.

As reported by Variety, “In March, the court ruled 9-0 in favor of Comcast’s argument on the interpretation question and sent the lawsuit back to a lower court to be refiled. It’s understood that settlement discussions between Comcast and Allen had picked up steam even before the Supreme Court decision was issued.”

Under this settlement, Comcast will extend terms for The Weather Channel and 14 broadcast television stations.

“We’re excited to begin a new phase of partnership with Comcast and Xfinity, including the distribution of our cable channels for the first time on Xfinity platforms,” Allen said in a statement.

In addition, distribution deals have been reached for the following channels under the  Entertainment Studios banner: Comedy.TV, Recipe.TV and JusticeCentral.TV on Comcast’s X1 platform.

“We are pleased to have reached this multifaceted agreement that continues our long relationship with The Weather Channel while bringing Xfinity customers additional content,” Comcast Cable Senior Vice President Bec Heap said in a statement. “We look forward to an ongoing partnership.”

Details of the settlement are not known.
