A film we introduced you to last fall when it was being shopped to international buyers at the American Film Market (AFM), now has North American distribution.
VMI Worldwide’s sci-fi thriller titled “The Recall,” stars Wesley Snipes and follows five friends on vacation at a remote lake house, unaware that planet Earth is under an alien invasion and mass-abduction. Snipes stars as a mysterious hunter with special knowledge of the attack.
The film is directed by Mauro Borrelli, primarily an art director/illustrator who’s worked on high-profile films like “The Hateful Eight,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” and 2 of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.
Filmed specifically to be released in Barco-equipped theatres (Barco is a multi screen format similar to Cinerama, which features multi-projection in order to create a panoramic experience, expected to compete with IMAX and Dolby Cinema), “The Recall” will be released via Byron Allen’s Freestyle Releasing on June 2 in theaters equipped with the Barco panoramic format; and then it’ll be released in standard 2D format on June 16, in select cities and on VOD platforms.
Meanwhile VMI Worldwide will handle international distribution.
Snipes revealed the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, earlier today.
No trailer for “The Recall” at this time. But we’ve got a pair of official images from the upcoming film above and below.
