Just 10 days after the sudden passing of Cameron Boyce, the actor’s legacy lives on. It was recently announced that Boyce’s parents, Libby and Victor Boyce, have launched the Cameron Boyce Foundation in his honor.

“The Cameron Boyce Foundation provides young people artistic and creative outlets as alternatives to violence and negativity and uses resources and philanthropy for positive change in the world,” says the website. “The Foundation was established in 2019 to honor Cameron’s legacy.”

The actor is primarily known for his work on the Disney Channel, including the show Jessie, the Disney XD show Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything and the Disney Channel original film franchise, Descendants. He has multiple projects that will be released posthumously, Descendants 3 (which will be released in August),  the film Runt with Tichina Arnold and the TV series Paradise City. He is also a series regular in the upcoming HBO series, Mrs. Fletcher.

Boyce’s grandmother is civil rights activist Jo Ann Boyce, a member of the Clinton Twelve, the first Black students to go to an integrated school in the South, per Brown v. Board of Education. They integrated their Tennessee high school, which was subject to a series of explosions, almost a year before Little Rock High School was integrated.

Read more information about Boyce’s life and how his friends, co-stars and contemporaries including Yara Shahidi and Skai Jackson have paid tribute to him in our obituary story.
