Omar Sy will star in the 7th feature from director Michel Hazanavicius’ (the multiple-Oscar-winning The Artist), titled The Lost Prince, which is scheduled to start shooting on July 30.

The film’s plot follows a single father named Djibi, who lives alone with his eight-year-old daughter, Sofia. Every night, Djibi tells Sofia a story to help her fall asleep, and when that happens, the extraordinary stories he tells come to life in an imaginary world full of knights, pirates and dragons, with Djibi playing a Prince Charming character and Sofia as a princess. Things start to change as Sofia grows up, leaving childhood, as well as her father’s bedtime stories behind her, much to the despair of Djibi who will have to face his most epic adventure yet, both in the real and imaginary worlds, in an effort to ultimately find his place where he no longer belongs.

“I am so excited to work on this new movie. It is made to be a crowd pleaser for families worldwide to enjoy together. I want it to be funny, original and emotional and I am very happy that, for the first time in a long time, I will be able to take my whole family to the premiere!” Hazanavicius said.

Joining Sy in the cast are Belgian actor François Damiens and French actress Bérénice Bejo (who also starred in The Artist). No other casting has been announced at this time.

Produced by Philippe Rousselet and Jonathan Blumental, Prélude, Pathé, StudioCanal and TF1 Films are co-producers.

StudioCanal will launch taking the project to the Film Market at the 71st Cannes Film Festival (May 8 to 19) to launch international sales.
