When eccentric painter and art professor Marcelino contracts a disease that makes him lose his eyesight, he is forced to rethink his relationship with his daughter, and take stock of a life full of professional success but an unsatisfactory personal life, in “Cows Wearing Glasses (Las vacas con gafas),” an intimate portrayal filled with biting humor and a dynamic performance by star Daniel Lugo.

Winner of the International Film Festival Curacao Yellow Robin Award and named Best Film at the FEMI Guadaloupe Int’l Film Festival, this debut feature film from Puerto Rican director Alex Santiago Pérez is a reflection on the position of a man who long ago lost sight of himself, and is now forced to face the inevitable.
Presented by the Caribbean Film Academy, the Brooklyn Cinema Collective, and BAMcinématek, “Cows Wearing Glasses” will screen as part of the Caribbean Film Series at BAM Rose Cinemas tomorrow, Wednesday, October 19th at 7:30pm. The short film Yolanda (2013), by New York-based, Puerto Rican filmmaker, Cristian Carretero, precedes the film. NYC’s Katra Film Series is a special presenting partner for this edition of the series.

Romola Lucas, co-founder of The Caribbean Film Academy (CaFA) and Caribbean Film Series shares, “We first saw this film at the Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival and have since been excited to share it with New York City audiences.” She continues that, “It’s exciting for us to present our first Spanish-language film as part of the Caribbean Film Series, expanding the scope of what Caribbean film represents here in Brooklyn.”
