CBS is developing a new comedy starring Jermaine Fowler and Quinta Brunson.

Titled Quinta & Jermaine, it is also written and executive produced by Fowler, Brunson and Larry Wilmore.

According to Deadline, the project, which is a dual production of ABC Studios and CBS TV studios, is one of the biggest comedy sales of the season.

The series will chronicle “childhood best friends who find themselves expecting a child while navigating adulthood.”

It brings Fowler back to CBS, where he starred in Superior Donuts for two seasons before its cancellation last spring. CBS remains a huge fan of Fowler after signing him to a deal in 2015 to develop a series (which became Superior Donuts), and he also got a Showtime comedy special out of the deal. At the time of its premiere, Fowler was the first black lead for a CBS sitcom in a decade.

Brunson, who found fame on social media with her viral Instagram series and multiple popular web series, made her first foray into traditional television when she was cast in The CW pilot The End of the World as We Know It earlier this year.

Of course, Wilmore is a comedy vet, creating The Bernie Mac Show and Insecure, as well as being a showrunner/EP on Black-ish. 

Right now, Quinta & Jermaine has a pilot production commitment at CBS.
