The 52nd Chicago annual International Film Festival (CIFF), which takes place this year from Oct 13-27, announced yesterday during their “sneak peak” of films and events set for this year’s festival, that director Steve McQueen will be honored in “A Tribute to Steve McQueen,” in which he will discuss his films and career to date.

The event, which will be part of the Black Perspectives selections of CIFF will take place on October 22, just a week after McQueen receives this year’s BFI London Film Festival’s highest accolade, the BFI Fellowship. That presentation will take place at the BFI London Film Festival’s annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday October 15, at Banqueting House.

In addition, the Chicago International Film Festival also revealed its first selection of 25 films that will be screened this year – among them is Barry Jenkins’ highly anticipated film “Moonlight,” which will make it’s world premiere at the New York Film Festival in September, and is already being hailed by many who have seen it, including Ta-Nehisi Coates, who tweeted the following: “Best film I’ve seen a long time and best take on black masculinity….ever. You need to see it.”

The full list of films and events for the Chicago International Film Fest will be officially announced on Sept. 20th.
