Audiences are getting a first look at the new Child’s Play remake. Thirty years after Chucky conjured up scares in Child’s Play, Orion Pictures is planning to reintroduce the killer doll to new audiences in a remake of the 1988 horror film, set for release in theaters on June 21, 2019.
Entertainment Weekly premiered an exclusive first look and poster for the horror remake. The new film, which stars Widows star Brian Tyree Henry and Aubrey Plaza, follows a mother who gifts her son a toy doll for his birthday. However, things go awry when mother and son witness the doll’s nefarious nature.
Lars Klevberg directs Child’s Play, which is written by Tyler Burton Smith and produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith. The film also stars Gabriel Bateman, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke.
