Fresh off of its acclaimed first season, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the subject of a massive lawsuit by the Satanic Temple.
The Hollywood Reporter says Satanic Temple has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the show’s producers, Netflix and Warner Bros. Television, alleging defamation and copyright infringement for showcasing the goat-headed Baphomet in an unflattering light.
For those unfamiliar, the school where the titular character Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) attends features a statue of Baphomet.
“Baphomet is a historical deity which has a complex history, having been associated with accusations of devil worship against the Knight Templar,” The Satanic Temple said in a complaint filed in a New York federal court.
The Satanic Temple also states that Netflix and Warner Bros. uses the symbol of Baphomet “as the central focal point of the school associated with evil, cannibalism and murder blurs and tarnishes the TST Baphomet with Children as a mark of TST.”
