Coco Jones paid homage to an RnB classic. The 25-year-old covered Brandy’s “Full Moon” as part of her headlining act for REVOLT’s “The Link Up” event.

For the second installment of the event, Jones performed alongside musicians such as bassist Aneesa Strings, trumpeter J. Chantel, snare drummer James Moses, talkbox player Andre Troutman and vocalists Shaleah Nikole and Keisha Renee.

They performed in a house on the Los Angeles hills and captured the feel of a house party in a single shot.

“I think ‘Full Moon’ has a lot of the characteristics that I like to instill in my own music — it’s up-tempo, but it still has that urban realness to it,” Jones told REVOLT about the song choice.

“It’s so dope to see all of these amazing Black musicians today on set,” she said of the experience. “It’s really inspiring to see all these talented people in one room, supporting this cause and me.”

The Tennessee native also shared that paying homage to the artists is especially important as she regards them as inspiring figures.

“If you don’t know where you came from, you don’t really know where you’re going,” she told REVOLT. “I feel like a part of me, and my identity is my culture and the people that have inspired me — the women in music that have inspired me. I want to give them some honor because they’ve done a lot for me in my life.”

Jones recently landed her first No. 1 single on the Billboard charts. “ICU” was featured on her debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You, released in 2022. The 25-year-old also shared a snippet of the visuals for the project on social media. Jones is also currently starring in Peacock’s dramedy series “Bel-Air.”

“I think being an adult and reintroducing myself was very crucial,” she told REVOLT about her album. “So what I wanted to do with my debut EP is give a lot of different sonics, and flavors and styles to really see what people like from me, and also to show the different layers of who I am, as if this person had never met me before.”

Coco Jones also covered Mary J. Blige’s hit single “Real Love” as part of “The Link Up” event. Her rendition is dropping on June 19.
