Coco Jones has reached a significant milestone with her Camper-produced track, “ICU,” achieving her first chart-topper on any Billboard chart. The song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, bumping Drake and 21 Savage’s “Spin Bout U” to No. 2 following two weeks in the top spot.

Jones is the first R&B female singer to hit No. 1 on the Airplay chart since Normani’s “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B last January. She is also the first R&B act recognized with the No. 1 spot since “Under the Influence,” Chris Brown’s track, which reigned for eight weeks. In addition, Jones is the second woman in 2023 to be featured at No. 1 since “Shirt,” SZA’s single, which dominated the chart for two weeks straight.

“ICU” is currently No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It peaked at No. 63 since it first appeared on the competitive chart at No. 88 in April. In other charts, “ICU” rises to No. 30 on Rhythmic Airplay, No. 18 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, No. 12 on Adult R&B Airplay, No. 8 on Hot R&B Songs and No. 3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

If you think you know Jones from somewhere, that’s no surprise, as she’s been in the limelight for over a decade. Her breakout role was in 2012 in Disney Channel’s film, Let It Shine, and she was featured in the series So Random! and Good Luck Charlie.

Now, at 25, the Tennessee native currently stars as Hilary Banks in Peacock’s hit series, Bel-Air, a modern re-imagination of the 1990-96 sitcom of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Following a stint with Hollywood Records when she was 15, the R&B crooner signed with High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. Fan favorite and hit single “ICU” appears on her major-label debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You, released last November. It is the first single to make it on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s also the project’s second single after “Caliber.”

What I Didn’t Tell You is all about the stories that happen off camera,” Jones said of the album. “This project will hopefully share my real-life experiences with my fans and show them I’m just like them. Sometimes people see me as the characters I play, but these stories are my own script.”

The singer and actress has since performed the song at the 2022 Soul Train Awards and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Jones is set to perform at the annual Roots Picnic in Philly, and soon after, at the Broccoli City Festival in D.C. Recently, she also teamed up with Vevo to deliver an acoustic rendition of the hit track.

As the successful artist’s tunes reach these new heights, we can only anticipate Jones will receive more accolades for her popular hits.
