On Sunday, Coi Leray joined a select few as a tribute performer at the 2023 BET Awards. As a part of her set, she celebrated female rappers, both past and present, wearing a custom fit. The “Players” rapper wore an all-white leather two-piece pant set embellished with black leather patches featuring multiple female MCs’ names. She paired the look with a black and white bralette, a single white glove and bedazzled air forces.

On June 13, Coi tweeted her thoughts about working on music with all the rap girlies.

“Ain’t been a [No. 1] rap song at all this year,” tweeted the 26-year-old. “Calling all the female rappers to the front. [Hear] me out. ladies night. Hip hop. Unity. let’s make history with a number 1 … together .. with love. #justanidea,” she tweeted.

Since her brief feud with Latto, the unity pitch has been sweet. The exchange occurred following the release of Lattos’ smash song “Put It On the Floor,” in which a bar refers to Coi’s body.

“Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray,” Latto rapped.

She tweeted that she felt disrespected by the correlation after hearing the song.

“…End of the day. Don’t say my name for clicks and likes. Especially if we don’t speak or communicate,” she said. “I’m not a big blunt small blunt. Don’t compare me to nada. Mention bi**hes you actually beef with. Put it on the floor but leave me out of the bs.”
