It seems like the fourth installment in the Creed franchise is in the works with its franchise star set to return to the director’s chair.

During a panel for Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event, Creed and Rocky producer Irwin Winkler confirmed that Creed IV is in the works.

“We are planning to do Creed IV right now,” Winkler said onstage during the panel. “We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”

Following his directorial efforts on Creed III, Winkler also confirmed said Michael B. Jordan will return to helm the fourth installment.

“He will be,” Winkler said. “He did such a great job — he was comfortable with the camera.”

A spinoff of the Rocky franchise, the Creed franchise centers on Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky Balboa’s former boxing adversary turned friend, Apollo Creed.

“Michael and the creative team had the beautiful vision from the start to create a wholly new and different experience for this movie,” Winker said regarding Creed III. “It had to be firmly cemented in what we all [know] the Creed and Rocky movies for … it had to have great action, boxing, but we also really examined what kind of movie we were making.”

Starring Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Jonathan Majors, Creed III grossed over $275 million worldwide on a budget of $75 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the Creed franchise.
