Ya’Ke Smith’s name shouldn’t be unfamiliar to most of you – at least, I hope not. We heaped lots of praise on his feature film debut, "Wolf," following its world premiere at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival, and continued to follow the film’s journey through its eventual long-awaited release earlier this year. 

Ya’Ke is currently working to complete his latest work, a short film titled "One Hitta Quitta," the story of a young boy severely addicted to internet violence. 

The film has actually already been shot (over the summer) using 8 different iPhones – a move that, as Ya’Ke states, was an integral part in helping tell the story. The film will explore how violence experienced over the web can seep into the “real” world. 

Ya’Ke has launched an Indiegogo campaign to see the film through post-production, after which it’ll then be submitted to film festivals, a path he’s very familiar with, given that he found lots of success with his previous award-winning films. The campaign’s goal is to raise $2,500, which really isn’t a lot and is very doable, with 27 days left to go before it ends.
